Meet K.J. Dahlen:
I live in a small town (population 495) in Wisconsin. From my deck I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Sammy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.

I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
My book titles are: Bones, The Darkness Within, Meghan’s Legacy, Shadow Chaser, Witness, Secrets and Lies, Legacy of Murder, The Unknown Son, The Prophet, No One to Hear You Scream, Bradbury Inn, Murderous Intent, Wrong Number, Fall from Grace, The House on Berkley Street. Open to World Wide Residents 18+. Ends November 5th

DownEast: Beautiful and Modest

Beautiful and modest.
It's as if I am writing about myself.
Ha!

Growing up, I was always modest in my appearance.
No low cut shirts, short short skirts, skimpy clothes in general.
It just wasn't me.  For the love of God, I used to sleep with my bra on.  (Trivia fact for when we play "fun things you didn't know about me.")

Being raised LDS also contributed to my modest dressing.  Going to church on Sundays we are requested to wear a dress for Sacrament meetings.  The 80's lead to some horrific dresses, modest or not.  Thankfully, DownEast has stylish yet modest casual dresses.  I like to casual some Sundays.

What I like about DownEast is that the dresses they have can even be worn on the job.  While I don't see the public in anyway shape or form and feel I should be allowed to go in pj's to work, the owner doesn't quite get that idea so he requires four out of five days we dress business casual. The fifth day is jeans day...yay!

Also I am a little, how do we say, fluffy.  Ok, fine, I am overweight.  It's a fact.  I own it.
Well DownEast also tells you what dresses flatter what shapes.  No more Omar the tent maker for me!!!

I have fallen in love with this dress:

Reminds me of the dress Julia Roberts wore to the polo game in Pretty Woman.

I digress.

Really, in this day & age, it's hard to dress modest at any age.  Skin is in, as they say.  What is so great about this modest casual dresses is that they are in style for any age.

Check this dress out...perfect for on the job:

Pair with tights and flats...perfect ensamble for a fall work day.  Or running errands if you want to dress up but not go over the top.  Even knee high brown boots would look good.  No nude hose though, I am anti nude hose.  Personal choice but that is just the way it has to be.

Modest goes a long way I think.  Always leave them wanting more.

Tell me, check out DownEast & tell me what your fav item is...anything at all.  I'm dying to see what you pick.
