Review & Giveaway: Faith of Our Fathers DVD Ends 11/17

With Veterans Day being tomorrow, I thought it was fitting to give you my review of "Faith of Our Fathers" dvd.

As the daughter of a Vietnam Vet, this movie holds a special place for me.  I am fortunate enough, that my day is alive and he made it home from Vietnam.  Sadly, a lot of men didn't make it home, leaving many children (and spouses) without a father.

This is the story of two of those children.
I watched this movie and while a bit slow to progress, the story of their journey is what piques your interest.  I wanted to see both of them succeed in completely the trip to see the men have closure.  The movie has humor, tension and a great message for all.  I highly recommend watching it as a family.  In my personal opinion, I feel it doesn't need to be PG-13 but then again, I blog, not rate movies.

Here is a bit about the movie:

John Paul and Wayne are two young men in search of their fathers.  Problem is...their fathers have been dead for 25 years.  Eddie and Steven are two young men in search of their sons...whom they've never met.  In 1969, Eddie and Steven are with their squad deep in the jungle of Vietnam on a five-day mission to retrieve fallen comrades.  They write letters to their wives, often mentioning their love for their sons, one, who is an infant and one yet to be born.  In 1994, John Paul and Wayne go on a five day road trip to the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC to see their fathers' names.  Along the way, reading those letters, they begin to get an understanding of who their fathers were and how they died.  Trials and mishaps, both funny and sad, complicate the road trip for the boys.  The horrors of war and the testing of faith manifest themselves for the young men in Vietnam.  Ultimately, in parallel stories - 25 years apart - the fathers and sons are bound together forever.

Runtime: 96 minutes
Genre: Drama
Rating: PG-13 (for brief war violence)

Starring: Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Downes, David A.R. White, Rebecca St. James, Si Robertson, Candace Cameron Bure, Scott Whyte, and Sean McGowan.

Review & #Giveaway: STRONG and KIND: And Other Important Character Traits Your Child Needs to Succeed by Korie Robertson

I have always admired the Robertson Family.
They have maintained their values while being on a reality show.
Who are the Robertson Family you ask?
Duck Dynasty.
They are a strong, close family with conservative views.
I don't always agree with everything they believe but I admire them for not changing their beliefs in the face of diversity.

I am happy to say that Korie Robertson has written her fourth book & yours truly got to review it.
This book has changed my family for the better.
It has made us focus on what really matters and is helping us install qualities we want to see in our children.

About the book:
Hardcover; 240 pages
Publisher: Harper Collins Christian Publishing (October 27, 2015)

In her new book STRONG and KIND: And Other Important Character Traits Your Child Needs to Succeed, Korie Robertson - New York Times bestselling author, wife of Duck Commander® CEO Willie Robertson, star of A&E's Duck Dynasty, and mother of five - argues that developing good character in our children is the single most important thing we can do to help ensure they lead happy, healthy adult lives.  Robertson explores key traits and what they truly look like in action, asks readers to select the two traits that they hope to see most in their children, and shares hands-on ways for nurturing strength of character.  Written with her mother Chrys Howard and featuring stories and wisdom from husband Willie, STRONG and KIND cuts through the contemporary cacophony of parenting manuals to rediscover, unfold, and embrace the enduring wisdom that has guided the best parents for centuries.

About Korie Robertson:
Korie Robertson, wife of Duck Commander® CEO Willie Robertson and star of A&E's beloved series Duck Dynasty, is a mother of five a New York Times bestselling author of several books, including The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks built a Dynasty, written with Willie; Faith Commander: Living Five Values from the Parables with Jesus, written with her mother Chrys Howard; and The Women of Duck Commander: Surprising Insights from the Women Behind the Beards about What Makes this Family Work, written with all of the Robertson wives.  She is also an in-demand public speaker, Duck Commander® executive, entrepreneur and found of boutique Duck and Dressing, and philanthropist, who remains active with a variety of organizations that focus on children, adoption, and foster care.  Korie lives with her family in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9 : Review & #Giveaway

Buck Denver.
Remember that name.
Your little ones will know his name, so you better memorize it.

Recently, I was fortunate it enough to get to see a preview of the new movie, Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9.  What a cute movie.  For those of us old enough to remember, it will remind you of the specials from the 60's & 70's that would play on television around Christmas.  Made me feel like I was about 5 years old when I was watching it.

This movie has great humor, action, campiness and a has been extremely influenced by Star Trek.  That's just my take on it anyway.

This movie has a great message and is definitely for the six and under set.  The characters keep reminding the viewer that God wants us to do big things but the message is a bit construed by Buck.  A helpful "alien" helps him figure out the true message.

Check out this preview:

Here's a bit about the movie:

Buck Denver has a simple dream - to save the galaxy.  Working for the Galactic Mission Board, Buck dreams of carrying God's love to every corner of the Milky Way!  Except he doesn't have a starship.  Or a crew.  Or even a captain's license.  He just needs a chance.  But when that chance comes and Buck finds himself leading a real mission into deep space, things don't go at ALL like he imagined!  If he's doing what God wants him to do, why is everything going wrong?  From VeggieTales® and What's in the Bible? creator Phil Vischer, Galaxy Buck: Mission to Sector 9 is a wild, galactic adventure that teaches kids a powerful lesson about trusting God with everything - even our dreams!
Run time: Approximately 40 minutes

Of course, you can visit Galaxy Buck on their social websites as well.

Guess what? The sponsor of this review is allowing me to give one DVD away to one of my fantastical readers.

Come on, don't just sit there, ENTER!!!
