Wisteria Lane is Desperate for Gift Baskets

I <3 gift baskets.
Love to give them, love to receive them.

I remember the first one I ever made.
It was for a friend of mine going away for her freshman year of college.
I found a "bucket" and filled it with toiletries, health and beauty aides, note cards (this was before email made an appearance...yes I am THAT old) and some candy.  I wanted a personal touch, just like Wisteria Lane Gifts does with theirs.
Everyone needs candy their freshman year of college.

What I liked most about it was the personal touch that I took the time and energy to put into making it.  My girlfriend loved it.  The basket was such a hit that I went on to make many more gift baskets and put a personal touch on each one.

Psst...Now do you get my title for this post...Wisteria Lane...Desperate...Desperate Housewives lived on Wisteria Lane! I kill me sometimes!

I digress...

The most fun I find in putting together gift baskets is trying to find that one special thing to pop in there.  Of course, buying them premade is just as great, especially if you are pressed for time.  I know I am pressed now that spring is here.  We have one car, two parents that work and two boys who play different sports and have all kind of things going on.  That's why now a days I rely on buying ones that I don't have to put together myself BUT I do put my thoughts into it.

It's great and refreshing to have a kick tushie gift that someone else put together.

My sister, the Aunt Erin, made me a gift basket years ago when I bought my first home.  It was a baking theme because I love to bake.  She did such an awesome job with it, even her friends urged her to start a business making them.  Just in my basket alone, she had cookie sheets, spatulas, rolling pin (which I think she borrowed and never gave back) & of course, baking mixes.  Perhaps I will get another gift baskets for my birthday this year.  It's in July in case you are wondering.

Do you do gift baskets?
What makes them special?
Like to receive?
Or like to give?

Let me know!

By The Sea Restaurants or How I Fell in Love with Seafood

This is a tale.
A tale of little brown haired girl who fell in love with:

Which led to my love of scallops, shrimp, lobster, clams, salmon...most seafood really.
Can't do crawfish but that's because the head is still on. Ew.

I remember my Poppy taking me to a seafood restaurant for my birthday when I was little.
Just us.
To a restaurant similar to Carmel by The Sea Restaurants
I ordered crab legs.
King Crab legs, thank you very much.

They were perfect.  As was my date with my Poppy!

He knew I loved crabs because I spent a lot of time at my aunt and uncle's house.  My uncle was always going crabbing or stopping by a roadside stand of "fresh crabs" to buy a bushel & bring back to his house.

We are fortunate to live on the East Coast about an hour from the Atlantic Ocean.
Fresh seafood is easy to come by round these parts.

My uncle would bring them home & let one or two loose on the tile floor.
Not my favorite part but once they were cooked, watch out because those crab legs were all mine.
Give me a nutcracker and let me go.

My first taste of lobster, believe it or not, was at a carnival.
I know what you are thinking, who would eat seafood at a carnival...again we are close to the shore so I was not worried.

That lobster was deliciouso!
I couldn't get enough.

I love to go out for seafood anytime I can. My 14yo has inherited my love for the food of the sea.  Which is odd because we share no genetics...must be osmosis.

One of the reasons I love it is because it always taste so light and airy.  Never heavy.  Even if you fry it.  Altho I tend to like my scallops broiled with some lemon.

MMM...nom. nom. nom.

So tell me, are you a seafood lover or no?
And tuna in a can doesn't count!

The Internet Mom Community

This is a special guest post:

Almost every day I find myself wondering how Mom did this without the Internet.

I have two precious little girls right now, and there is hardly a day that I don't go online to a site like for some special advice or question.

I've talked to several other moms in my parent's group and they feel the same way.

When my husband and I went off birth control to ttc, we gained a lot of confidence from what we were able to learn online. Since then, as we started the family, we have gotten a ton of coupons and samples that help with the budget a lot.

Plus, we have found some good products that we continue to use. Of course, I have the books that Mom gave me and we talk all the time. She always has good advice to give, and she always enjoys giving it.

Thankfully, she even appreciates the online services, also.
Several sites I use were found by her doing some extra searches. I guess the parenting job can never have too many helpers and sources of information.

I think we are going to go for number three soon, and one reason I am willing to is all the resources we have access to. Whether it is waiting with ttc or raising them with TLC, I am grateful for all the Internet access we have to great tips and products.

It makes me wonder about what else my daughters will be able to use when their time comes to give me grandbabies.

Survey Sites that Really Pay..CASH!

I am only go to list the sites that I have personally used & personally made cash from.

First up! My Survey.

I've been a member of MySurvey for a few years & I can guarantee they pay.

You will not get rich but a little bit of money always helps out.

Next up...Opinion Outpost...My fav survey site!

I would say this is one of the best out there.  Last year, I made over $80 with them alone.  I am already at almost $25 for 2013 & it is only the beginning of March.

You don't always qualify for surveys BUT they give a consolation game to get points.  I've won that way as well.

Another site that pays & pays decent.  I've been a member & I am hit or miss with this site.  Why? No reason, just cause.  I focuse a lot on Opinion Outpost because like I said, it's one of my favs.

So check out one, two or all three of these sites.

All membership is free & all pay!

Let me know which one you joined.
