Is the Land Rover Range Rover a Good Vehicle for You?

Some vehicle brands come with a lot of history. Land Rover, a British-made vehicle that began in 1948, is one of those vehicles. One of its most recognizable models is the Land Rover Range Rover, which debuted in 1970. How far has your Land Rover in Lexington, KY, come since then?

Three Generations
In the United States, the Land Rover brand has only been around since 1989. Since then, Land Rover has only produced three different generations of the Range Rover. The Range Rover, as with most of Land Rover’s vehicles, is designed to be an all-wheel drive vehicle that is excellent for off-roading, but luxurious at the same time. Throughout the years Range Rover has seen a lot of different trim options and adjustments to the interior and exterior features. The second generation of the Range Rover arrived in 1994, and the current third generation debuted in 2013. The 2014 model has introduced a new engine option for the Base model.

Range Rover Features for 2014
While the 2013 Base model sported a 5.0 L V8 with 375 horsepower and a 14/20 mpg, the Base engine for 2014 models is a more fuel-economy friendly 3.0 L V6 with 340 horsepower and 17/23 mpg. The Supercharged model still contains a 5.0 L V8 with 510 horsepower and 13/19 mpg. Both models are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Safety features that are standard on all Range Rover models include traction and stability control, front side airbags and side curtain airbags, a driver side knee airbag, front and rear parking sensors, rearview camera, and more. You can also purchase an optional vision assist package, surround view parking camera, and blind spot monitoring. Other standard features are 19-inch wheels, adjustable air suspension, heated and power-folding mirrors, a power lift gate, auto headlights, keyless entry and

ignition, climate control, power front seats, a heated steering wheel, navigation system, Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary ports, and satellite radio. An upgrade to the Supercharged trim level gives you 21-inch wheels, fog lights, power sunroof, stainless steel pedals, auto terrain response system, heated rear seats, auto dimming side mirrors, and leather upholstery. You may also want to look into the HSE or Autobiography packages for your Land Rover in Lexington, KY.

What Does a Biomedical Engineer Do?

An engineering degree can lead to all sorts of careers, and that’s part of the reason these degrees have become so important. There are a number of important jobs that require specialized engineers, so individuals with engineering degrees are in high demand. To understand just how important engineers are, you need look no further than biomedical engineers. A biomedical engineer designs solutions to problems involving biology and medicine, and they do this in a few different ways.

Instruments

Biomedical engineers design instruments and devices that are used for medical purposes. Some instruments, like MRI machines, are used to look inside a patient to detect any problems that would otherwise go unnoticed. Other instruments are used during treatment, like robotic arms that aid in surgery. Instruments are also used for monitoring patients, administering drugs, and many other purposes, so it is clear to see that engineers play an important role in the field of modern medicine and health care.
Artificial Body Parts

Engineers also design the artificial body parts that are used to replace injured limbs. People come in different shapes and sizes, so the one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for artificial body parts. When a person is in need of an artificial limb, they need one that is sized to fit them. Engineers have become even more important now that artificial body parts are becoming more advanced and are starting to replicate some of the functions that a natural limb provides.
Software

Most new instruments and artificial body parts require software designed by a biomedical engineer in order to function properly. Software is crucial to medical care in a number of ways. Software can be used to simulate and test new drug therapies. Software is also crucial in a number of instruments; software is what allows doctors and technicians to tweak the settings on an instrument to get a look at the things they really need to see. Artificial body parts and implants also rely on software to operate correctly. With an engineering degree, an individual can actually help with advances in the field of medicine.
