Vtech Voices bring you: Tips For Encouraging Our Kids to Read

Hola readers!

I want to talk to you about this great VTech V.reader again.
I love it.

Recently, my son & I received the Toy Story 3 game to go in the reader.
OMG!
He hasn't put it down.
At all.
He's asked to take it to bed with him & in the tub.
Since it isn't water proof & I would like him to sleep I have had to deny him this luxury.

One thing that I am finding that is working on him constantly wanting to play with his reader is I do not turn the tv on.
Nope.
Not on.
When we come home at the end of the day, I make sure the reader is left somewhere he can see it, I walk past the tv w/o turning it on & he spies the reader.
He then asks to use it.
Sits on the floor behind our coffee table & reads, reads, reads.
I hear him giggling as I cook dinner.

The VTech V.reader definitely keeps him engaged!

Guess what?!?
I have another VTech V.reader to giveaway.

Holla!

All you need to do is post your tip on how to get your kids to read!
That's it.
This is the mandatory entry.

If you would like one other way to earn an entry, just follow the blog.

EZ PZ, Cottage Cheesy!

*this giveaway ends 8/5 @ 8pm*

**I was given a Vtech V.reader to review, along with some games as compensation.  All opinions are 100% mine and not influenced in any way!**

I let my little guys pick their own books for me to read to them. That way they are interested and ready to hear it!

Years ago, I used to ask my oldest to read to his little sister and I intend to repeat the process with TOF and TC

I take my daughter to the library weekly. She sees all the different pictures on the front of the books and wants to read each and every one.

My oldest is 4 and can't read on his own yet but loves when I let him pick out a book for me to read to him. He also has the leapfrog tag system and loves to sit down and "read" with that.

I am first grade teacher and it's my passion to encourage my 22 kiddos to read!! I read aloud chapter books to my kids, a chapter a day, and that gets them interested in characters like Junie B. Jones and the Magic Tree House books. We also use online readers like Star Fall and Flip Books to encourage readers. I would love to use the V-tech in my classroom during centers.

We have incentives for the amount of books the kids read. Each 20 books earns $1.00. When they reach $10. we go to the dollar store and they get to spend it.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

My son is only one, but he loves to sit on my lap and "read" his books already. My niece is two, and she does the same thing. I think it's important that they do this, and enjoy it, so later on they will still love to read.

I have some great ways that I get my kids to read. We have special story time when it's just my kids and me. They get to pick their stories as well. We also sometimes act out the books after we read them to make the stories more real to my kids. They love our ideas.

Letting kids choose their own books is a great way to get them to read - they are picking what they want to read about. Letting them see you read is important too, so they know you value and enjoy it.

The best way to get a child to read is to read to them from when they are just a baby. Read to them often. This will get them interested in it!

Get your child their own library card. It makes a big difference for them to be able to check out their own books with their own card and they will look forward to going to the library even more.
My daughter is only 3, so I read to her different times throughout the day. dramaqueensmum@gmail.com

My little one [19 months] doesn't need any encouragement...he loves to look at books and be read to. All I have to do is leave books around and he picks them up and asks to be read to [well, not in so many words, but I know what he wants!]. My 11YO daughter likes to read but needs some encouragement, so I often suggest that she read for 15 minutes in bed before she goes to sleep. This feels like a treat so she loves to do it!
