Mesothelioma Awareness Day: September 26

I want to bring awareness to a Mesothelioma, a form of cancer that is preventable!
A disease I didn't know anything about until recently.

Take a look:

  • Mesothelioma Awareness Day is September 26, 2015 and the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance is spreading awareness of the disease and it's causes.
  • Mesothelioma is a very rare cancer, but is completely preventable. Everyone should have access to information on asbestos exposure to keep our families safe, and to encourage world-wide ban on this carcinogen.
  • If you would like to help spread awareness, please donate your social status here: http://www.mesothelioma.com/heather/awareness/#.Veb1FbxVhHw
  • Heather Von St. James is almost a 10 year survivor of mesothelioma, which was caused by exposure to asbestos fibers on her dad's work jacket as a little girl.
  • Heather was diagnosed with Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma just months after giving birth to her daughter, she underwent surgery that involved a heated chemotherapy solution & the removal of her left lung.
  • Her and her husband Cameron now work to spread awareness of mesothelioma globally and this is something that everyone should be aware of.
My Poppy worked for Texaco for his entire life.  He was exposed to asbestos for much of his career.  Sadly, that and smoking, contributed to his lung cancer.  He was diagnosed with it and passed away two weeks later.

Now there is more than can done.  Preventable measures are available to everyone.  Please, please look into this and if you can donate to the cause, please do!

Just take a look at this:

Please feel free to share this blog post, I actually encourage you to because this is something that everyone needs to know about.  Especially because it is an avoidable cancer.

Thank you.

Nessie & Me...a Review & a #Giveaway

Need a cute movie for the little ones to watch, this is the one. Cheeks & I watched it, we liked it, albeit a bit young for my 10 year old boy.  I would say good age range for kids is maybe 3 to 7. Here's a bit about the movie: The Loch Ness Monster has been back in the news following a recent sighting and resurfaced pictures, just in time for the release of family movie  “Nessie & Me,”  which is now available on DVD & VOD, courtesy of Vision Films! When 9-year-old Jamie moves to a beautiful lakeside village, he befriends a grumpy old sea captain who tells him of the lake’s mythical creature named Nessie. The townsfolk don’t believe him, but Jamie wonders if Nessie can be the solution to save the town from a greedy mogul who is buying up land around the lake… if only he can prove that Nessie is real. But sometimes it takes a little bit of magic, and with the help of a mermaid, a treasure map and an unlikely friendship with Nessie the Sea Monster, ...

VTech Voices ~ Family Reading Night & Giveaway!!!

That's right everyone. This week being part of the VTech Voices team is allowing me to bring you a cool giveaway. Of course, you are going to have to do a bit of work to get it. First let's see what we are playing for: "OOOH! AAAH!" I'm not kidding when I say this VTech Reader is freaking awesome! Not only will you win one of those, you will get a "game" with it. Woo hoo! Here's what you need to do. You need to come up with your very own Family Reading Night. It's where the whole fam (or as many are at home) sit down & read together. Sort of like a Family Home Evening for those LDSers in the crowd (HOLLA!). I did this with my lil guy & my nephew just last night. We layed on my bed and they each took turns holding the reader & playing the games that come after the story. It got a little confusing for a bit because, well let's face it they are almost 4 & 4.5yrs old so they are learning about not yelling out an...
