Do You Blick?

Not too many of my readers may know this but I have a degree in English/Elementary Ed.  I am passionate about the education of young ones. Most passionate about the arts. Thanks to Blick I am going to be able to help a local school get some much needed art supplies.  You, too, could help your school get supplies that they need. Take a look at this: Amazing answers isn't it? My son loves ART.  This is his most recent creation: I proudly display it in my dining room. Thanks to Blick  children whose art funding has been cut will be able to continue to create.  The AWESOME thing about Blick is on their website they allow an art teacher (or anyone) to create a wishlist...just as if you were registering for a baby or wedding shower.  Registering for art supplies...I love it!  It's part of their Art Room Aid project. Most districts, the arts are the first to be cut sadly, but now thanks to Blick perhaps they can stay.  Art Ro...

The Listerine Reach Challenge ~ How Did You Do?

My family has reached the end of the Listerine Reach Challenge? Can I say...we rocked it! Oh yes. Yes we did. Not only did the 5yo lose his 1st tooth at the beginning of the challenge but lost his 2nd tooth towards the end of the challenge.  Perfect timing to have him learn how important taking care of your adult teeth is!  Like we tell him, you don't get another set to grow in.  These are it. Just take a look at that toothless smile! He is totally loving the brushing of the teeth and the rinsing of the mouthwash. This is his fav mouthwash: The one that we received to sample has Batman on the front.  Now he runs the upstairs hallway swishing his mouth with his arm extended outward as if he is really the cape crusader. As for the other men in my family, the 18yo just had his dental appt...perfect appointment..no cavities. He has taken to rinsing with Listerine at night as well as in the morning.  Listerine is not just to freshen the breat...

The Listerine Reach Challenge, Are You Ready?

This challenge could not have come at a better time for this household. Why do you say that, you ask? Take a look: That's right. The 5yo lost his first tooth (his first tooth to come in as well..I'm distraught but that's another post). My family and I were challenged by Listerine and Reach to improve our oral health. I was up for it and since what I say goes, so was my family. The first thing the Cheeks wanted to try was his new toothbrush that Reach provided.  It's a Batman toothbrush.  Perfect for the Superhero obsessed child that he is.  The piece de resistance: Not only was there a picture of Batman on the front but after I explained how mouthwash works (that you get to spit), Cheeks had enthusiam oozing out of his pores. He has added mouthwash to his morning and nightly brushing routine.  It is going great! For the rest of the family I informed them of a few things I learned: Brushing your teeth alo...

Lawry's Labor Day Style for 2 (plus a Giveaway!!)

A few weeks back I was asked by The Motherhood to get together with some of my fellow local bloggers and try out some new Lawry's products.  To get creative and throw our best cooking skills forward.  Some of you know that I am just a whiz in the kitchen, sure I've tried to poison Bobster with undercook chicken or even serving him ground meat that tasted like seafood but I digress.  Anyway, due to some scheduling conflicts I was unable to make the get together but thanks to Skype I joined in.  Just wish Skype would do smell a vision...that would have made the fun time complete.   Here's what was made (and what I made later but neglected to take photos because I am a dork!): Photo Source We were asked to do a theme so Labor Day Dinner for 2 it was. My favorite had to be the Cheesy Baked Artichoke Dip ....WoW!  So good!!!  Check out the recipe: 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (about 2 ounces) 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons mayonnai...

We all have choices, lets make them Healthy Choices

I must let the public know, Bobster & I, we are overweight. I know. It's shocker right. For those that have never seen a photo of us I am sure you pictured us as Vin Diesel & Cindy Crawford. Wait? You didn't. That must be my own dreams.   I digress. We need to get healthier. Both of us.   So in addition to talking weekly walks with the family (yes we do that!) we need to eat better & recently I was given the opportunity to try out a couple Healthy Choice meals.  These work out great for me because I love a hot meal for lunch and even though I have a kitchen at work you can't really "cook" in there unless it's microwavable...which these meals are.  SCORE! This week at work I tried the Healthy Choice Steaming Entrees Honey Balsamic Chicken (yes I know that is a pic of another entree but work with me).  It cooked in a jiff and it was tasty.  Not to mention it smelled so good that even my coworkers asked what I was eating and who made...

Got PIzza? You will!

Raise your hand if you have heard of Dr. Oetker's Ristorante Pizza ? Raise your other hand if you want to try it because you've never had it or you've had it & you liked it? Let me tell you all, I had this pizza last year and I really liked it. Recently I was fortunate enough to get to try it again, the plain & the vegetable. It was tres yummy. Sadly, the pizza's arrived broken. They were packed in a cooler, in a box, with dry ice. Working for a company that ships all. day. long. I know that good packing material is a must. So let's chalk that little breakage up to a new guy in their shipping department. The breakage did not effect the taste at all. I baked the plain in the over. 425 degrees. 12 minutes. While it's suggested you just place on the rack, I used a pizza screen. The crust was crisp. Mozarella just gooey enough. As for the sauce....ah, muah, deliciouso! Tonight I broke out the veggie pizza. My little guy even asked fo...
